Blessing Owhonda With CGPA of 4.81 As Overall Best Graduating Student Of RSU


Blessing Owhonda Ugonma, the best graduating student in the just concluded 2018/2019 Academic Session and 31st Convocation Ceremony of the Rivers State University, Port Harcourt did not hold back to identify some of her success story as a student of the institution.

Blessing Owhondah, a young girl of her 20’s hails from Ikwerre Ethnicity, Rumueme Kingdom in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

She graduated from Faculty of Law, Rivers State University with a CGPA of 4.81.

Blessing Owhondah, delivering her valedictory speech at the convocation arena after receiving her award as the Best Graduating Student attributed her success to;
Firstly, God,
Secondly, Hard Work,
Thirdly, commitment,
And lastly, Dedication to her Studies.


She talked about her relationship with God, “Above all, I will not fail to acknowledge the fact that my service to God and participation in Christian activities on campus particularly Christ Ambassadors Students Outreach CASOR and Joint Christian Campus Fellowship JCCF was the bedrock of my today’s success story.

Blessing Owhonda further pointed out other key factors to her success, “And in view of that goal of becoming the best graduating student, hard work, perseverance, determination, study, attendance to and participation in class as well as respect for my lecturers became my watchword and has made me stand out today”

She heartily commended her Lecturers, Friends and her Mother whom she said were her guidance throughout her stay at the Rivers State University.

She said, “My greatest source of inspiration has always been my irreplaceable mother and siblings who made selfless sacrifices to ensure that I am what I am today so I am very delighted to make them proud.”

Blessing Owhonda encouraged students in the institution to take their studies seriously and avoid unnecessary distractions on the campus, ranging from peer group influence, clubbing, cultism, prostitution, runs, and other clandestine activities as a student.

In her statement, “As those who will fight for the larger society, the world is waiting for our manifestation and to get the best from us. We must not forget that the larger society we are heading into is filled with ups and downs. Therefore we must not give up in striving to succeed as the champions we are.”

“I believe that with resilience, commitment, focus, and hard work we shall get to the top” she said.
