Rivers State: Supreme Dismisses Petition Of Mr. Awara Of AAC Against The Victory Of Nyesom Wike

The Supreme Court have dismissed the petition of the AAC candidate Mr. Awara against the victory of Nyesom Wike in the last governorship election in Rivers State.

INEC had declared Nyesom Wike Winner of the 2019 governorship election in Rivers State in what many had interpreted as controversial, in which the candidate of the AAC Mr. Awara approached the court to challenge the declaration of Nyesom Wike as Winner of the election up-to the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court on Friday held that there was no need for the Court of appeal to have ordered the lower Tribunal to continue with the hearing of the Awara petition in the first place

It held that the original dismissal of the petition was in order and should have been allowed to stay.

Some lawyers who interpreted the Friday Supreme Court Judgement and it’s implication to True Blue Reporters said with the Supreme Court Judgment, there will be no  appeal from the candidate of the AAC Mr. Awara against the final Judgment of the Tribunal which in the past week upheld the return of Governor Nyesom Wike by the INEC.

It has also been interpreted that, everything about the 2019 elections, as concerning the AAC candidate Mr. Awara or whether Nyesom Wike won or otherwise, is over and done
