The Executive Chairman of Tai Local Government Area, Mbakpone Okpe has reacted to the alarm raised by the Social Democratic Party, SDP governorship candidate Senator Magnus Abe that his campaign office has been attacked and pulled down by thugs led by the Local Government Council Chairman of Tai on Monday.
According to Magnus Abe, “Ahead of the commissioning of Our Campaign Office today in Nonwa, Tai Local Government Area, Rivers State, the building and already set stage was attacked and destroyed in the early hours of this morning. Properties are evidenced in the pictures attached below, were destroyed.”
“Regardless of these deliberate and illicit display of lawlessness, WE SHALL GO AHEAD TO COMMISSION OUR OFFICE TODAY IN NONWA, TAI.”
“We assure Rivers People that we will continue to go about our campaigns peacefully in total compliance with the relevant laws of our great country.”
But in a swift reaction on a live radio interview in Port Harcourt, Mbakpone Okpe, the Local Government Council Chairman disagreed with Magnus Abe. He stated that Abe is just ranting and alleged that if there was shooting, it was masterminded by Magnus Abe himself.

According to Mbakone, “Magnus Abe have also boasted that He is ready to disobey rules and order. We have earlier written and informed that work should discontinue in the structure.”
“If Magnus Abe is ranting that I led thugs, I am a responsible man I can’t lead thugs.”
“We told them to discontinue and if they failed to discontinue and something happened later, I don’t know about it.”
