Breaking: Okerewa Community Trust Launches Community Co-operative Worth 100Million, Present Buses & Cars

It was a thing of joy in Okerewa Community, Aleto-Eleme, Rivers State on Saturday as the Okerewa Community Development Initiative rolled out a new program towards human capital development; Okerewa Community Co-operative

Ngokanya Benjamin, the chairman of Okerewa Community Trust explained that they did not just come up with such initiative but because its very necessary in making sure men and women of the community are financially capable.

“Okerewa community being one of the host communities and shareholders in Indorama Eleme
Petrochemicals Limited with a 21% stake of the 7.5% Indorama Equity Shares. As shareholder that
have been receiving dividends for over six months now from Indorama EPL, it is only pertinent that we plunge these funds into well meaning ventures and projects which are directly impactful to the good
people of Okerewa Community in particular and neighboring communities at large.” Ngokanya Benjamin stated

“However, in considering this in our First Annual General Meeting in June 2022, we agreed that our
dividends shall be distributed in the order of 40% for Project, 40% for Sharing / Distribution and 20%
for Human Capital Development, Savings and Re-investments. Hence, the concentration of our event today is purely centered on how the 20% of the declared dividend is and shall be utilized” he stated.

Presenting the #100million cheque to officials of the co-operative, Aforji Igwe, the honourable member representing Eleme State Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly sang a praise song to God in what he described as a visible turn around in Okerewa Community, such that have not been witnessed in the community for years.

Hon. Afforji commended Ngokanya Benjamin led Community Trust for their great initiatives and commitment towards the betterment of Okerewa Community and the people.

He further pleaded with the community co-operative officials to deliver on the mandate and avoid whatever will bring bad image to them and their employee.

He also encouraged men and women of the community to make use of the opportunity and build themselves beyond poverty level.

True Blue Reporters was present and reports that the Chief of Okerewa Community spoke in favor of the project, as other members of the community expressed satisfaction with the good job of Ngokanya Benjamin led team.

A brand new bus was handed over to the council of chiefs likewise a project car handed over to the co-operative team for smooth running of the program with a well furnished standard office in a well secured environment within the community.
