WEDNESDAY PLANNED PROTEST: UPTH Resident Doctors Reveals Their Stand

The planned protest declared for Wednesday this week by the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors across the country is now generating reactions by various chapters of the association as the day draws nearer

Speaking with True Blue Reporters on Sunday, the president of Nigerian Association of Residence Doctors University of Port Harcourt Chapter, Dr. Arthur Onuah explained that its an injury to all and Resident Doctors in UPTH will not pretend about it.

When asked if UPTH chapter will be protesting alongside their colleagues in other states as declared by the national body of the association, Dr. Arthur stated,

“I can categorically tell you that the Resident Doctors in UPTH will be protesting on Wednesday as long as the directive remains.”

“The protest will kick off from the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital entrance gate, as we proceed to see that the attention of those concerned on the need and welfare of Resident Doctors are brought to it. We will have the opportunity to table our demands once more and seek that they come to terms with our demands” he stated.

Dr Arthur Onuah revealed that the plans remains stable unless otherwise and that the security agencies and other relevant authorities have been notified ahead of time to guide against possible hijack by mischief makers

He pleaded with the general public to understand with the resident doctors at this trying times as the struggle is majorly for the purpose of serving them better and improve on the generality of Nigeria health sector

Earlier, the federal government had made some offers to the Resident Doctors as a way of halting the strike and possible break down of the Nigeria health sector. A situation which the resident doctors described as a shortfall to their demand.
