Governor Siminalayi Fubara since inception of office on May 29th 2023 has been described as workers friendly governor due to various changes witnessed by civil servants in Rivers State ranging from timely payment of salary, promotion of workers unlike the previous administration, payment of Christmas Bonus and others.
The Easter non payment of salary got workers wondering what may have caused the delay even though many have concluded that since the salary could not enter before the Easter public holiday, it means the payment will now be after Easter, a scenario that did not go well with many workers.
Cross section of workers told True Blue Reporters that “it’s unlike the governor, so they never saw it coming”
“If I had known, I would have planned towards it. But the non payment of salary caught many of us by surprise”
“I had planned to travel with my family for the Easter celebration but now I cannot because there is no money”
Some of the workers expressed confidence that probably the delay may be as a result of the governor planning to add the Thirty Five Thousand Naira palliative to the salary or something good attached to it
Some disagreed with the possibility of no fund due to the recently awarded road contract amounting to about Eighty Billion Naira by Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State when asked by our reporter
