Benjamin Ngokanya led Okerewa Development Trust on Saturday 12th August, 2023 performed Ground Breaking of multi million naira Okerewa Smart Farm Project in Okerewa Community, Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State
The Okerewa Smart Farm Project which is mapped out to occupy large portions of land already sited in the community witnessed large gathering of members of the community at the site where the ground breaking also took place.
In his welcome address, the paramount ruler of Okerewa Community, Chief Eteeh O. Elechi gave thanks to God for giving Okerewa Community men with good vision, conscience and development of Okerewa Community at heart as Okerewa Development Trust.
He recounted the number of meaningful projects the community has witnessed in just about two years of existence of the Benjamin Ngokanya led Okerewa Development Trust and thanked them publicly for always embarking on what he referred to as life touching projects for the people of Okerewa Community.
He applauded the Smart Farm Project and also commended graduands who where alongside trained in various farming skills of international standard and awarded certificate of training
On her part, the general manager of Okerewa Community Cooperative, Mrs Juliana John appreciated the Benjamin Ngokanya led Development Trust for the opportunity given them to serve
She revealed that they are proud to present to the community about 38 graduands so far who proudly went through all requirements, trained and are worthy of certificate presentation.
CAD Consulting Limited, Ibinaiye Wale Kayode explained,
“the vision for this smart farm is not just about cultivating crops and rearing livestock, it is about cultivating hope and rearing dreams. It is about combining the age-old wisdom of farming with the latest advancements in software, hardware and management techniques.”

Performing the ground breaking, Dr. Simeon Gbimoiye Nenbee recounted how he has become an Okerewa Community son by association haven witnessed series of positive turn around in the community in the last two years of the current Okerewa Development Trust led by Benjamin Ngokanya.
He eulogized the community for queueing into modern days rapid development and raising persons with such good vision and foresight for and in Okerewa Community. He encouraged the people to remain united and further see to the growth and success of the Okerewa Smart Farm Project, as he Performed the ground breaking in the presence of the Chiefs, Okerewa Development Trust members, Youth Leadership, CAD Consulting Limited, Alphathrills, Okerewa Cooperative, Clergymen, Dignitaries, men and women of Okerewa Community.
True Blue Reporters was there and reports that the event featured award of MSc Scholarship to the tune of Fourteen thousand seven hundred and eighty four pounds, award of certificates, prayers, dancing and merriments.
